I conducted another experiment for my pest cockroach today. And i realised that my first experiment was flawed. Bleach doesn't kill it right away...In the last experiment, it only died because it was going to die anyway. For the experiment that i just conducted, the first agent i tried was bleach and the cock was still struggling. Cruel as all this may seem, i felt uneasy when i saw it suffering.. making anything suffer is cruel...so i quickly tried other agents..and of course, my pest cockroach died, if not from the corrosive agents, by drowning... and when i went to throw the container(coffin) of my pest cockroach away, i noticed that it was actually warm...some of the stuff i poured in might have reacted exothermically. Any chemistry pros out there who can help? my agents were bleach, clorox, and dettol.

Anyway, tomorrow's my last paper...actually its today, cos its already 0001 am... I haven't finished studying which is the same as all the other papers. hopefully it turns out alright...going to sleep...

Sleep is a waste of time...But i enjoy it...unless i get nightmares..hopefully i sleep well tonight..but even when i get nightmares i still go back to sleep. Sleep is good. But sleep too much will get headache. and sleep too much also waste a lot of time. but i like to sleep..so i'm going to sleep. so sleep sleep...

Just finished geog paper...came home after the paper and have been in my room since..slacking...listening to songs...especially Blink 182 songs...its how pro..especially when you're not feeling good..and just sing along. and you'll feel good..haha...and not have a care in the world...forever and ever.let's make this last forever...whatever i studied for geog didn't come out. For physical geog, i only studied, studied as in memorised and stuff, weathering and geohazards...and guess what...both didn't come out..and the same thing for human geog...so i ended up writing crap for 2 hours...and its 4 essays in 2 hours...and of course since i had nothing much to write, i wasn't rushing for time... And i didn't even complete 1 answer booklet while others handed in 2 answer booklets....anyway, i dun wanna think about it.. its over.. i hope that everyone fails...hahahah....so the bell curve is in my favour... mean right...what to do....haha.....
yeah...blink 182 is good...haha....
I took her out it was a Friday night
I wore cologne to get the feeling right
We started making out and she took off my pants
But then I turned on the TV
And that's about the time that she walked away from me
Nobody likes you when you're 23
And are still more amused by TV shows
What the hell is ADD?
My friends say I should act my age
What's my age again?
What's my age again?
Then later on, on the drive home
I called her mom on a pay phone
I said I was the cops
And your husband's in jail
This state looks down on sodomy
And that's about the time that bitch hung up on me
Nobody likes you when your 23
And are still more amused by prank phone calls
What the hell is call ID?
My friends say I should act my age
What's my age again?
what's my age again?

Finally, after 5 min of loading, i'm finally typing my pro post...haha
3 more days to exams and everyone's so stressed..dun be stressed. Look at me..I'm so screwed, and yet not stressed. My elang is super screwed up. Just cos of the damn project which i got 13/30, now my overall score is around 33/70 and the final exam for elang is only 30%!! How to pull up...and it isn't as if i can get an A grade for the final exam itself..hahh....sucks...anyway, I just killed a cockroach, which is derived from the spanish word, cucaracha. Did you know, there are roughly 3,500 species in 6 families. Cockroaches exist worldwide, with the exception of the polar regions. If I aroused your curiousity about roaches, pls visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cockroach . Anyway, after the brief crash course on roaches, I shall reveal the secret to killing a cucaracha. First, I experimented with bleach. Upon pouring bleach onto the cockroach, it stuggled frantically but obviously, was still alive. Next came the insecticide. Interestingly, after sparying, 4 of the cockroach's limbs were 'glued' together, but it was still alive. And now, its time for me to reveal the secret to killing roaches - CLOROX - Upon pouring the clorox, the cucaracha stopped moving right away. However, I'm still unsure whether the cucaracha is dead as of now. It stopped moving. Maybe it was playing dead. Hmm... More experiments should be conducted.
Anyway, Ming Yong just told me that we got A+ for our last geog practical...WOW!!! haha...totally unexpected and pleasantly surprising. The project was totally scrappy and last minute. So what can i say, other then - What to do...Pro what....haha
So...3 more days to exams...Econs on sat morning, followed by the dreaded elang on Tuesday morning, then the 4 essays of geog on wednesday morning followed by the incomprehensible Information Systems on Friday morning. Then its back to camp on saturday for half a day of briefing. And then its 3 essays for Changing Landscapes of Singapore on Monday evening. And then its all over...hahh...can't wait

Disclaimer : No cockroaches were harmed during the course of typing this post.

I was just thinking about the machines that you can strap on to your tummy or thighs and they will jiggle your fats and make you lose weight...so if we keep jiggling our fats, will we lose weight?? haha...
maybe we could have weight loss sessions..where people get together...it'll be like....hello everyone..welcome to weight loss by shafiq... hope you guys came prepared..so are we ready??!!! and...start jiggling...(and everyone jiggles away...shake your legs and use your hands to jiggle your tummy) Then I'll be like - And let me remind you that this is focal weight loss...you can focus on which area of your body you want to loss weight by simply jiggling that part with your hand!! Its so simple...and all those who haven't paid for this session please pay up...
And not only can will you lose weight but you'll relieve stress as well - by laughing...imagine a room full of people jiggling their fats...quite gross actually..haha...imagine ah huat!!! haha...gross...only appealing for ming yong....haha

As usual on friday night, we went out...we had dinner and chatted till 9pm...poor tze yeong just called asking if we were still out..he must be very busy...haven't seen him for very long...soon...school hols are nearing..
anyway, we were talking about philosophers just now...what's the use of philosophers? what do they do? Do we actually need them? Economists, scientists, geographers, its quite obvious what they do and their work helps mankind. But can the same be said for philosophers? Their work is interesting..no doubt abt that...but in what way is it useful? Philosophy is the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality and existence. As i said earlier, it is very interesting...but studying the fundamental nature of reality and existence?? I'm not sure how they go about studying and what they actually study about reality. As for existence, they may come up with many theories but there is no way of proving any of it..theories they will remain but the reason behind our existence will remain a mystery..maybe that's why its a "study of the....", its continuous...the endless process of acquiring knowledge...
anyway, even if the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality and existence is concluded and proven, what do we have to gain from it, other then mere satisfaction? Was philosophy created merely to satisfy our curiosity and the human thirst for knowledge? Or did it have some other function in the older days as ming yong suggested? If the former, who is actually curious and thirsty enough to pay people to think up theories? Personally i would like to do that..I can just sit around the whole day and talk about life, I mean philosophize.
Basically, my point is, scientists have a role to play in this world. They make life easier and more comfortable with creations such as aircon (as ming yong said). Teachers teach. Children are our future. Economists, businessman, bankers, accountants deal with money. Its a material world. Doctors, health-care workers help cure and heal. And earn lots of money in the process. So in what way does philosophy help us? Does it affect our thinking? If it does, so what? Life still goes on as normal right... What's the point of philosophy? In my current ignorance, i feel that philosophy is pointless.
